Local Parenting Classes in ACT Communities Year Round

Parents Raising Safe Kids, the APA early violence prevention program designed for families and caregivers, is being implemented across the country at multiple sites by professionals and organizations. It could be in a community near you!
Things you need to know about the APA parenting program:
- The research-based curriculum is designed to help families and caregivers from all types of backgrounds raise children without violence by learning:
- Basic information on child development and what behaviors to expect at the different ages
- About risk factors for violence and its consequences in the lives of children
- Age appropriate protective factors and skills for effective parenting such as anger management, positive discipline, positive conflict resolution, and media violence
- About participating in the community’s efforts on prevention
- It is administered by certified ACT Facilitators in 2-hour sessions for a minimum of 8 weeks
- At the parenting classes, participants receive high-quality, user-friendly materials, such as a handbook, fact sheets, cards, booklets that are in English and Spanish.
